He allied with his brother Aurangzeb during the struggle for the Mughal throne, but their partnership was short-lived. Aurangzeb had him arrested in 1658, and, after imprisonment, Murad was executed at Gwalior in 1661 on Aurangzeb’s orders. His coinage preserves the brief imperial ambitions of a prince whose alliance with his brother ultimately sealed his fate. A handsome AU 55 specimen displaying bold calligraphy within well-defined square frames.
