Description

Vijayanagara Empire, Harihara II (AD 1377–1404), Gold Half Pagoda, (Wt: 1.57 gm, 7.5 mm), Rare.

Obv: Brahma and Sarasvati seated together, accompanied by sun and crescent moon symbols.

Rev: Nagari legend “Sri Pratapa Harihara” arranged in three lines.

Brahma, the god of creation, appears alongside his consort Sarasvati, the goddess of knowledge, learning, music and the arts. Their seated pairing brings together the complementary ideals of creation and wisdom. Depicted on Harihara II’s gold half pagoda, the divine couple lends the coin a devotional character, celebrating the enduring connection between creative power and knowledge.
