Description
Aurangzeb, (AH 1068-1118/1658-1707 AD), Silver rupee (Wt: 11.51 gms, Dia: 23.02 mm), Ranthambor, AH1097 RY 30, (KM-300.76) Extremely Rare mint, Uncirculated.
Obv: Persian legend bearing the “Badr-i-Munir” couplet: “Sikka zad dar jahan chu badr-i-munir, Shah Aurangzeb Alamgir” “Shah Aurangzeb Alamgir struck coin in the world like the shining full moon”; Hijri date within the inscription, with decorative floral rosettes in the fields.
Rev: Persian legend “Sanah julus maimanat manus” “Year of the accession associated with prosperity” with the regnal year; “zarb Ranthambhor”, at the bottom, and floral rosettes ornamenting the fields.
Ranthambore is a rare mint in Aurangzeb’s silver coinage, Reported as active under Aurangzeb circa AH 1097–1100, The present rupee survives in remarkable Mint State preservation, placing it among the finest surviving examples of this rare type.
