Delhi Sultanate, Turk Dynasty, Jalalat ud-din Raziya (AH 634-637 /1236-1240 AD), Dehli Mint (off flan), Silver Tanka, In the name of both father Iltutmish Radiya, Obv: Arabic legend "al-sultan al-a'zam Shams ud dunya wa'l din al-sultan al-muazzam Radiya al dunya wa" within a square frame, "al-din" at bottom, Hijri year, and mint name off flan in the margin, Rev : Arabic legend "fi ahd imam ul mustansir amir ul mominin" within a single square, Hijri year, and mint name off flan at the margin. Comment : Goron Goenka lists Raziya's tankas with the reverse legend exclusively within a double-square design. This coin, however, features a single-square reverse type, representing a previously unrecorded structural variant in her coinage. The titulature remains standard, but this type is unlisted and unpublished in major reference catalogues.Coins of Raziya/Raddiya Sultana hold a unique place in Indian history, being issued by one of the important female rulers in the Islamic Sultanate and as a distinct Sultana issue. This specimen is an exceptionally rare and highly important addition to the coinage of the Delhi Sultanate.
