Particularly well displayed on one face, this patterned frame complements the sweeping Persian calligraphy and gives the coin a distinctive decorative character. Akbarnagar, identified with present-day Rajmahal in Jharkhand, was an important administrative and minting centre of Mughal province of Bengal. Raja Man Singh established the provincial capital there in 1595, naming it in honour of Emperor Akbar. Its mint became active during Akbar’s reign and continued striking coins under Jahangir, Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb. Test mark, Extremely fine, Rare.
